FuelMileage.com Year In Review – VW Golf TDI the most fuel efficient!

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

For the last post of 2009 we thought it would be a good idea to review some highlights of 2009. We launched the site back in October and have been developing at a rapid pace ever since.  We want to thank all the users who have helped us shape the site into what it is today!

To start we have had huge support from the users on the tdiclub forum. Their users are serious about fuel efficency and take tracking their fuel mileage seriously. We are proud to have them using our site and have continued to meet their tracking needs when they needed additional features/reporting.

Lets review some of the top 10 fuel efficient vehicles of 2009.  As you can see below the Volkswagen’s dominated with respect to fuel efficiency.

As you can see the #1 fuel efficient vehicle on our site is a 2000 Volkswagen Golf 1.9 TDi. This user has tracked about 3,000 miles and has maintained an average MPG of 52.37.  We also wanted to mention our top 10 vehicles with the most miles tracked. Keep in mind this data isn’t just for 2009 but rather the total miles they have tracked in our fuel mileage tracking system.

As you can see one of our users has tracked over 40,000 miles in our fuel mileage tracking system, simply impressive! If you would like what you see go ahead and register for our site its completely free!

Another highlight of 2009 for us was the launch of our fully functional mobile site. You can get to our mobile site by simply going to fuelmileage.com on your smartphone and you will be automatically redirected to our mobile site log in page.

We were also able to deploy an android app to the android market this year. Simply search the market for “fuel mileage” and select “The Fuel Mileage Tracker”.

We want to thank all of our users and visitors for making 2009 a great year!

Thanks

BMW ActiveE Concept Points the Way to an Electric Future

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

BMW’s rather long electric vehicle history dates back to the late 1980s. Typically, this automaker has used its regular models for its EVs. The first was a battery powered 3 Series sedan, and now it’s 600 MINI E variants – electrically powered MINI Coopers converted to electric power – that are in service in California, New York, New Jersey, and several European locations.

The BMW Concept ActiveE, using the BMW 1 Series Coupe, joins the MINI E as part of the Project i Megacity Vehicle Initiative for minimizing environmental impact while preserving BMW’s ‘Ultimate Driving Machine’ experience. BMW plans an even larger fleet of electric 1 Series cars to gain more experience with EVs, with serial production of these electric cars beginning in the first half of the next decade. These could be marketed under a BMW sub-brand. (more…)
